About this repair

The Galaxy Tab S8+ (SM-X800/X806) carries a 12.4-inch 2800x1752 Super AMOLED at 120Hz with an optical fingerprint sensor mounted under the panel, so after a screen replacement that sensor has to be re-aligned and recalibrated or it stops reading enrolled prints. The laminated AMOLED is bonded to a thin Armor Aluminum chassis and seated directly over the 10,090 mAh battery, which we separate slowly to avoid flexing or cracking the large panel. We also repair S Pen EMR touch dropouts, USB-C charging faults, and swollen batteries common to this 12.4-inch model.

After a Tab S8+ screen repair, will the fingerprint scanner still work?

The Tab S8+ uses an optical fingerprint sensor mounted beneath the Super AMOLED, so we re-seat and recalibrate it after fitting the new panel and confirm your enrolled prints read at the correct on-screen position.

Can a base Tab S8 screen be used to fix my Tab S8+?

No. The S8+ has a 12.4-inch Super AMOLED at 2800x1752, not the base S8's smaller LTPS LCD, and it needs an AMOLED assembly with the matching under-display sensor cutout, so the two panels are not interchangeable.

The back of my Tab S8+ is bulging near the screen. Is that the battery?

Usually yes. The 10,090 mAh battery sits directly behind the laminated AMOLED, and as it swells it pushes the panel upward. We replace the battery and inspect the AMOLED for pressure cracks before resealing the chassis.
