About this repair
The 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 (4th gen) added a LiDAR Scanner and a 10MP ultra-wide camera alongside the 12.9″ 120Hz fully-laminated Liquid Retina panel, so back-glass and camera-area work has to keep the LiDAR module and its calibration intact. Like the 3rd gen, its glass and LCD are bonded together and replaced as one unit, the 5.9mm chassis flexes under pressure, and the glued battery can swell, so we heat-separate the laminated front and carry over the original Face ID TrueDepth sensors, which are board-paired and can't be re-enabled by third parties. USB-C charging-port wear and Apple Pencil 2 edge-charging faults are the other repairs we see most on this A12Z model.

Does the LiDAR scanner still work after a repair?
It does, as long as the rear cameras aren't what's damaged. On the 4th gen the LiDAR module sits next to the back cameras, and we keep it and its calibration intact during any front-screen, battery, or USB-C work.
Is the 4th-gen screen any different from the 3rd-gen one to repair?
The panel itself is the same 12.9″ 120Hz laminated Liquid Retina, also replaced as one bonded glass-plus-LCD unit. The real difference is working carefully around the new rear LiDAR scanner and ultra-wide camera when we open the tablet.
My iPad Pro 12.9 (4th gen) feels slightly bulged — can you replace the battery?
Yes. The 4th gen's battery is glued into a very thin 5.9mm chassis and can swell with age; we remove the swollen cell safely using heat and adhesive solvents and fit a fresh battery without bending the aluminum frame.
