About this repair

The Z Fold 5 added a gapless Flex Hinge that lets its 7.6-inch inner foldable AMOLED close flat, but that inner panel and its factory-applied screen protector are the most fragile, costly part to replace. Most failures we see are protector peeling at the crease, a dead line down the fold, or debris in the hinge. The outer 6.2-inch cover screen is a separate part we can replace on its own.

The screen protector on the fold is lifting — do I need a whole new screen?

Not always — on the Z Fold 5 the inner protector is a wear item; if the panel under it is fine we can re-protect it rather than replace the display.

There's a black line or flicker along the crease — is that fixable?

Yes, but that's the inner foldable panel failing, which is the expensive part; we replace the whole inner display since the crease line can't be repaired in isolation.

Can you fix just the outer cover screen?

Yes — the 6.2-inch cover display is a separate assembly, so a cracked cover doesn't mean replacing the foldable inner screen.
